THE Bombala and Delegate students of the Monaro Dance Centre presented “The Beat Goes On” for their 15th Annual Concert on Sunday.
Performing for the first time under the direction of new dance teacher, Michelle Berwick, the students displayed their many talents in a dance spectacular enjoyed by an enthusiastic capacity audience.
The ballet students opened the show in the beautiful and moving “One Day I’ll Fly Away” from the movie Moulin Rouge.
Jazz classes and the young boys hip hop then took up the pace in three energetic items from the High School Musical series.
Monaro Dance Centre’s teachers followed with a dazzling “All That Jazz” performance. Then the Delegate senior jazz girls took to the stage in “We Go On”.
The final fabulous items in Act I involved all of the Bombala tap students in “Cobwebs”, which proved to be a favourite with the audience.
Following intermission 20 beautiful little fairies, the Pre School Dance students, took to the stage with teacher, Michelle, Hannah Ingram and Tori Wilson.
The Delegate Junior Jazz girls were next with a highly commended performance to the popular “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire. The older hip hop boys also impressed with “Arab Money”.
The junior and senior ballet students then changed the pace with the delightful “Petrushka”, danced in national character style.
“Boom Boom Paw” featured a polished performance by the Bombala senior jazz girls. All of the Delegate tap students followed in the beautifully choreographed “Hindi Sad Diamonds”.
The show also featured two stunning performances by the award-winning Monaro Dance Centre Performance Troupe.
Congratulations must be extended to the Monaro Dance Centre students and parents, local teacher Michelle Berwick, and studio co-ordinator, Cynthia Dolan for a truly memorable show.
