BELIEVE it or not, the schedules have already been made available, and this year's Bombala Show is just around the corner, with plenty of excitement to be enjoyed at the Exhibition Hall on March 20.

As a very special feature, the Bombala Show Girl Competition will once again be presented in conjunction with The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition, with many having very fond memories of this particular event.

For those who know little about the competition, it is in fact an experience that opens many doors and encourages the founding of new friendships, with some very inviting prize packages being offered along the way.

The Bombala Show Girl Competition is a wonderful opportunity for women aged between 18 and 24 to become involved in the local community, with the chance also being offered to become a rural ambassador for women in our district.

"The experience also allows participants to fulfil and achieve aspirations and dreams that they may not even imagine," coordinator of the newly re-established competition, Leanda O'Brien said. "Potential entrants are invited to express their interest and meet with myself to discuss what is involved, and obtain information to assist with their decision making."

All interested ladies are now encouraged to contact Helen Platts on 6458 3925 to arrange a suitable date, with the following excerpt from a letter written by a previous participant going a long way to demonstrate the benefits

'THE Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition is an opportunity to be involved in your local community as rural ambassador for women and possibly across all of NSW.

By participating in your local Showgirl Competition you can gain skills that will benefit you in both your career and personal ambitions.

These include public speaking, interview practice, self-confidence and the forging of new friendships.

I entered my local Showgirl Competition at Canowindra, as I felt it was a way for me to become involved in my community and to promote what young rural women can achieve.

I was extremely proud to be able to represent my community and to promote our area at the Zone Final and later at the State Final at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

I have made many wonderful friendships with other women who have entered the Showgirl Competition and I am inspired by their achievements and dedication to rural New South Wales.

During my time as the 2002 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl, I travelled across most of NSW and acted as an ambassador for rural and regional New South Wales.

I experienced the wonderful hospitality that our country towns are famous for, and they showed me the products of their local industries that were supported by the many exhibitors at the shows.

I have absolutely loved every minute of my experience with the competition, I have made great friendships, improved my public speaking, met many new people and visited new places.

The entire experience from entering at Canowindra Show to competing at the National Titles has given me a great deal of satisfaction and a heap of fun along the way.

I encourage you to become involved in the Showgirl Competition and to experience the fun and opportunities as they are presented.'
