THE Bombala township awoke last Thursday morning to learn that overnight three local businesses were broken into and a large amount of property stolen.
The Champions Shoes Store suffered a significant amount of damage when the offenders used a mattock or similar to smash their way through the back wall into the office area of the shop.
A safe which contained an amount of cash was stolen, and the offenders caused further damage as they broke their way out.
Next door, the Landmark store was also broken into through a window, and cash and mobile phones stolen from the safe. The mobile phones were found outside the premises in the rear yard and have been retained as evidence.
The office of Bombala Public School was also broken into causing a large amount of damage. A laptop computer and data projector were stolen which will hamper the teachers in class.
Forensic Police attended all three sites on Friday and a number of fingerprints were found in addition to other forensic evidence.
All this evidence was gathered and will be used in the continuing investigation into these offences by police.
