Draft plans drawn for BLAC Inc

Draft plans drawn for BLAC Inc

01 Sep, 2004 10:28 AM
IT may seem as though we haven't heard directly from BLAC Inc for a little while, but rest assured the group is always working hard for the community, with its organisation of the Bombala Idol competition being just one thing keeping the group busy.

We may all know that Bombala Idol is going strong, with everyone looking forward to the next performance night on September 10, but there's plenty more for BLAC Inc to concentrate on, with the land currently being purchased for its brand new building.

With the Wellington Street block being secured, BLAC Inc is also happy to announce that the draft plans for the complex have been drawn up, with the group's architect adding some final touches before these are passed onto Council and the public.

The building, which will house everything from live stage shows to film screenings, will of course be of great benefit to the community, with BLAC Inc now encouraging locals to write letters of support for the project.

These have already been coming in fast, much to BLAC Inc's delight, but more are needed, so get pen to paper now and put in writing just how much you believe a new literary and arts centre will do for the area.

New building aside, there's still plenty on BLAC Inc's calendar to keep members flat out, with the Blue Light Markets becoming a bigger success every month, and more and more exciting plans being made for future Blue Light Discos.

This includes a fantastic Halloween Dance Party in October, a Paint Ball Family Fun Day in December and a whole host of Pool Parties in 2005, with anyone who would like to get involved encouraged to come along to the group's meeting at Cosmo Cafe on September 14 from 6pm to discuss the events.

While live stage shows are on hold for the moment while the new building gets underway, BLAC Inc is still very pleased to present a screening of 'The Passion of the Christ' at the St Joseph's Primary School this Saturday, September 4. (This is strictly for the over 16s, with proceeds going to the St Mary's Catholic Church.)

Beyond this BLAC Inc is also busy getting behind the coming of community radio on 103.7FM, as well as putting thought into running Junior and Teen Idol competitions due to the success of Bombala Idol, so it's safe to say they certainly have a lot on their plate for now!
