THERE were some pretty serious looking young faces to be seen in last week's Golden Oldie as a Kindergarten/Year 1 class lined up to have their school photograph taken, but no matter how long ago this scene may have been captured, there were still a few locals that were easy to recognise.
While we had no one reader call in to identify the entire school bunch, a number of people came in to point out a few familiar faces, with it being clear from the plaque being held up in the picture that the shot was taken in 1951.
While we found it impossible to name all of the kids pictured, the contributor managed to remember most of the students names, with Mrs Betty Lomas being the young teacher taking care of this particular brood.
When it comes to the back row we see Fay Brotherton, Susan South and Norma Standen, with the next young lass remaining a mystery as she stands beside Mary Redcliff, Claire Garnock and an Ann whose second name cannot be remembered.
In the next row we can find David Gilmore, John Dallimore and Bernard Ingram, and while the next two have not been named, we then move onto Darryl Jones, Barry White, Barry Smith, and a Haggar boy.
In the third row Janice Ingram starts the line off next to Kay Fraser, Bernard Groves and Judy Celements, while Alan Bruce, Rex Rolphs and Edna Elton are next in line before another unnamed boy and David Loutitt.
Starting off our very front row we then see a Garnock boy whose first name has escaped readers, with Helen Mears coming up next to another mystery student and Jill Johnson, Kevin White, Jeanette Ingram, Tony Daly, Joy Smith and Alan Standen.
This was indeed a very interesting photograph to go through, and while we have a few others from the same era, we have decided to take a quick break from this particular group and return to them in a few weeks.
As for our latest Golden Oldie we have stuck with the school theme, but it sure looks as though we have gone back even further in time.
Once again with this very old photo the quality of the picture may not be perfect, but non-the-less can anyone tell us who these particularly well-dressed students are?
