Local Heritage Fund supported by $8,500 grant

LOCAL MP, Steve Whan has welcomed $53,500 of NSW Heritage Grants for heritage projects and services in Monaro, including funding for the Bombala Council.

Mr Whan said the $53,500 was part of the $5.3 million worth of NSW Heritage Grants for 2009 - 2011.

“These grants will provide much needed financial assistance for heritage projects and services in Monaro,” he said.

“The 2009-2011 NSW Heritage Grants pro-gram will enable local Councils to take a hands-on approach to conserving historic places as an investment for our future generations.”

Projects include:

• $8,500 pro rata grant to Bombala Council to continue the local heritage fund for the local government area.

• $7,000 pro rata grant to Snowy River Shire Council to continue the heritage advisory service and a further $8,500 pro rata grant to continue the local heritage fund for the local government area.

• $7,000 pro rata grant to Cooma-Monaro Shire Council to continue the heritage advisory service for the local government area.
