SUNNY blue skies were the perfect backdrop for the impressive range of jumps, tricks and other riding skills that were on show at the Bombala Skate Park as part of an exciting youth BMX Clinic on Sunday.
Youth Health Project Officer, John Graham and BMX pro, Nathan Philips of Canberra led the clinic, which attracted a great roll up of keen young riders ready to develop their skills.
The whole event actually kicked off on the Friday evening of the weekend, with John and Nathan welcoming everyone to the Youth Room to spend a bit of time getting ready for the clinic on Sunday.
Here bikes were tuned up and gear was examined, and a big focus was placed on rider safety and good health overall. Of course there was plenty of time for DVDs and pizza as well!
This put everyone in very good stead when it came to the action on Sunday, but Nathan and John were careful to start the gang off with some stretches and final safety checks.
The rest of the day was turned over to saddling up and getting into some action, with Nathan impressing everyone with his moves and giving expert step by step advice on various tricks and techniques.
There was a fantastic response to the clinic overall, and the Bombala Council is very happy to announce that there is now enough interest to start up a local BMX Club.
To find out more, or to register alongside the other keen riders, come along to the Youth Room on July 8 between 12noon and 5pm as part of the Council’s holiday workshop program.
Here you can learn about the BMX Club as well as get involved in pool, table tennis, videos, bike tune ups and of course a pizza feast!
