WITH General Manager, David Rawlings having moved on from the area last week, the Bombala Council has welcomed Acting General Manager, Don Cottee to the chambers to take the reins.
Mr Cottee is a 40 year career professional in Local Government, and over this time has worked in both rural and city councils.
Throughout the last 17 years up until semi-retirement Mr Cottee has been with Hunters Hill Council, a very interesting part of the country which is actually a peninsula bordered by the Parrammatta and Lane Cove Rivers.
Finishing up at Hunters Hill, Mr Cottee elected to do some locum work from time to time each year, and although he was offered several appointments, our Acting GM found Bombala the most appealing.
“It really is a wonderful community, and I look forward to enjoying the area as much as possible,” he said.
Mr Cottee will now keep day to day operations going, and will also assist the Council in selecting a new permanent General Manager.
He explains that applications have been called for the position, and these will close on June 30, after which time all Councillors will be involved in the selection process.
Mr Cottee will be with the Bombala Council for two to three months as Acting General Manager, and looks at his time in areas like Bombala as living in the “real Australia”.
