The Bombala office of the Livestock Health and Pest Authority (LHPA) has welcomed a new veterinarian to its team in recent weeks.
Chris Haylock, who previously worked from the Cooma office as the district veterinarian from 1990 – 2001, has started working two days a week from Bombala, though stresses that her working hours are flexible.
“I really encourage people to call me anytime if they have a problem, and if I can I’ll get up to see them that day,” Chris said.
“The district veterinarian position is just giving advice and animal health services for farmers.
“It involves sheep, cattle, health and production issues.”
All farmers pay rates to the LHPA and as a result, receive the service Chris provides, so the cost is basically nil.
The Cooma, Bombala, Braidwood and Bega offices have recently been amalgamated under one structure, and now comprise the South East LHPA.
“So now I have the flexibility of working from the Bombala office, from home, or on the road,” Chris said.
“I live in Nimmitabel with my family, which is virtually halfway between Cooma and Bombala so it’s not a major change of location.
“But I must admit, I don’t really know my way around Bombala yet. I’m hoping to learn as people ask me out to their places to help them out,” she said.
Chris can be contacted on her mobile anytime, 0429 946 441.
