THERE are many hard working people throughout our district who deserve thanks for their commitment to community service, and the public now has the opportunity to get them in the running for some well earned recognition.

The Bombala Council is now seeking nominations for the local area’s Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year awards for 2010.

Nominees for the citizen awards must contribute to the community outside of their vocational employment, and their contribution can be long term, or can be along the lines of an act of bravery or compassion.

We all know someone who is eligible for these particular awards, and it is hoped that a high number of nominations will be received to reflect the wonderful community spirit of our area.

When it comes to the Event of the Year, the category is wide open, with any community event that has contributed to the area in 2009 being eligible.

Again, there are plenty of potential runners here!

Nominations on the appropriate form will be accepted by Council up until 5pm, Friday, December 4, 2009 and may be submitted by individuals or organisations.
