Paddling with the platypus

08 Oct, 2008 09:13 AM
Our very own platypus girl Manda Hensman returned on Saturday afternoon to conduct a very successful “Paddle with the Platypus”.

Although the weather was not that great there were nine participants who turned up.

NPWS supplied the canoes along with Discovery tour rangers, Manda Hensman and Barbara Allgaier.

While enjoying the paddle along the Bombala River, Manda explained the habitat, food chain and the extraordinary little animals.

All participants really enjoyed the outing although no platypus were sighted, with much splashing, paddling, laughter, dampness, and most saying they would like to go again.

NPWS were very happy with the event considering the short notice.

NPWS along with Council and Platypus Pals are working towards ensuring that the popular “Paddle With Platypus” continues with local discovery rangers training as soon as possible to make this happen.
