Police Report

19/11/2008 9:01:00 AM
WELL another Bombala annual Bike Show is over for the year and this year everything was very low key crime-wise.

There were only a few little incidents that occurred over the weekend and once again it only involved a few locals of Bombala. These incidents were only minor in nature and kept our charge room vacant, which was good to see.

Of course alcohol was the major factor that caused Police having to intervene, and some locals find the Bike Show an excuse to have a few more extra ales than usual.

Police mostly dealt with people that either wanted to stand around and argue with each other or ague with staff at licensed premises or security they had employed for the weekend. These persons were moved on by Police to prevent either injury to themselves or others.

There were two separate incidents of malicious damage where a vehicle was damaged on Saturday afternoon between 4pm and 6pm as it was parked in Forbes Street outside the showground, and in the early hours of Sunday a bike was damaged at a licensed premises in town.

All in all it was a good weekend with the street parade a success. It was good to see local businesses getting involved there, and hopefully next year we can see more entering the parade and getting more involved with the event, even though I know the majority of businesses already play a big part in the event.

This year we had the Mounted Police visit Bombala and hopefully next year we can get them down here again.

I wish to thank everyone that participated and celebrated the weekend of the Bike Show, as it was a great weekend for both the community and Police.
