Popping up everywhere

WITH exciting funding announcements being made, very positive projects starting up and our tourism industry going from strength to strength, a quick glimpse through any recent issues of the Bombala Times shows that things are full steam ahead in the district.

Adding to our growing image, the Bombala area has recently appeared in the Australian Road Rider Magazine and a caravanning publication called On the Road, and will even have its own chapter in a book being released by former Today weatherman, Monty Dwyer.

We’ll have all the details on this exciting new book featuring Bombala in next week’s issue, but for now readers can enjoy some wonderful praise for the area in both of the above mentioned magazines.

In the Sept/Oct edition of the Australian Road Rider Magazine, the Bombala and Delegate area is featured across a two page article titled ‘Royal Bender’ that waxes lyrical about our incredible roads, both for riding to the coast and into Victoria.

In between expressing delight about the ‘tar twisties’, the article also speaks very highly of the meals and accommodation at the Heritage Guesthouse, and the food at Cosmo Cafe.

Meanwhile, the July issue of On the Road dedicates four pages to a trip from Orbost to Bombala, which features pictures of everything from the Delegate Settlers Hut to our Platypus Reserve.

Both Bombala and Delegate caravan parks are included in the feature, with the writer giving a glowing review of our picturesque scenery, high quality facilities, platypus sightings, and a pleasant stop at Goongerah.

And then of course there’s Bombala’s chapter in Monty Dwyer’s new book, which we look forward to introducing to our readers in next week’s Bombala Times.

Bombala Council Economic Development Officer, Karen Cash says that the area’s appearance in outside publications is a sign that efforts to promote our region are working.

“It takes time to build a successful tourism industry, but the area’s inclusion in magazines and books that we haven’t directly sought out for promotion show that everything is coming together very, very positively,” she said.
