BOMBALA has its very own soccer star rising up through the ranks, with Theo Dracopoulos enjoying great success in the sport over the past couple of weeks.
Theo plays for the Merimbula Whites Under 11s in the Far South Coast Soccer Association competition, and not only made it into the Grand Final this year, but helped bring his team to premiership victory.
The Merimbula Whites faced Bega in a tough match that saw some very competitive soccer being played in Merimbula on September 6, with Theo’s team coming out on top 1 to 0.
In the presentations held just last weekend Theo was presented with the Most Improved Player of the Year Award for his team.
But that’s not Theo’s only big win. The talented young player from Bombala has also just been selected to play in the Far South Coast Representative team.
Theo had to undertake six hours of trials to be selected for the squad, which was narrowed down from 26 promising players to 16 of the very best.
Naturally Theo and his family are very proud of the achievement, which will see him undertake more soccer training in Merimbula and donning the representative uniform to play throughout the south coast and at other special events.
