THOSE who have been involved with the Fairy Meadow ‘Clash of the Giants’ at anytime throughout its almost 50 year history are being urged to make the most of the June long weekend event being hosted by Bombala this year.
Once again our junior football and netball players will be lining up against those of Fairy Meadow to battle it out for the highly coveted shields and trophies, while a spectacular social weekend will also be enjoyed.
Following the traditions of this much loved event, the Fairy Meadow visitors will be treated to some warm Bombala hospitality, beginning with the parent dinner at Colin Pate’s woodshed on Saturday night, June 6.
Here all past players, coaches, supporters, committee members and families are invited to join the schoolboys football and netball gang for dinner and a high spirited night of making new friends and catching up with old ones.
The following Sunday is all about the sport, with junior netball kicking things off at 11am, followed by senior footy at 12noon, and finally the senior netball at 1pm.
As reported in last week’s Times, Fairy Meadow has been unable to field a junior football side this year, so sadly only one footy game will be enjoyed on the Sunday.
Rest assured, however, there will be plenty of action to keep spectators entertained, with the presentations to follow the games, and there will be great refreshments available throughout the day.
Topping the weekend off will be a family night on the Sunday evening, with everyone gathering in the Multipurpose Hall to enjoy a tasty spread of food served up by the renowned caterers of the Bombala High School P&C.
Once again anyone who has been involved with Fairy Meadow over the years, or is simply a genuine supporter of junior sport in Bombala, is welcome to come along and share in the cheerful evening.
We’ve mentioned previously that due to dropping player numbers this may be the final ‘Clash of the Giants’ in Bombala, so everyone is encouraged to make the most of this 49th Fairy Meadow event.
If you would like to attend one of the great evenings being planned for the weekend, please contact Peter Jones on 6458 3568 or Sue Morgan on 6458 3267, or simply rock up to the games on the Sunday and enjoy some junior sport.
