All three brigades arrived promptly to put out a cooking fire that had got away from a neighbouring property, mid afternoon on Sunday, January 24.

It was a hot and windy afternoon with an easterly blowing. As the neighbour immediately to the east of this fire I was hugely relieved by the prompt response of the fire brigades.

I am very grateful for all those volunteers who gave up hours of their time on a Sunday afternoon to deal with this threatening danger and on subsequent days to check on the fire. Thank you so much.

It is humbling to think that the generosity of volunteers keeps so much of this country and its communities safe from disasters and are also there assisting if disaster cannot be averted. How fortunate we are to have a community comprising such individuals.
