WHETHER you were a winner or a loser in the Melbourne Cup this year, chances are you had a cheerful afternoon, with many locals getting into the spirit of Cup Day.
Some of our local businesses jumped on board with race decorations and even costumes, and there was definitely an air of fun about the day.
The Bombala RSL Club of course made the most of the popular occasion, with a Punters Club party, Calcutta and sweepstakes all leading up to November 1.
Of course on the big day itself the TAB was humming and many rolled up to enjoy lunch at the Club, with a number taking part in the Fashions of the Field Parade.
This saw Emma Sellers and Zac White taking the glory and winning bar vouchers for their stylish outfits, although we must point out that young Zac’s was promptly passed onto his parents.
Fashion and fine food was also the focus at the Delegate Country Club, where a good crowd gathered to enjoy a fun filled Cup Day complete with a Ladies Luncheon, fashion parade, sweeps and live music.
In this case it was Joan Jones and Shirley Jamieson who were the Best Dressed Ladies, while Helen Stevenson wore the Best Hat.
