Pool opens after $700,000 upgrade

MUCH to the delight of the community, the newly upgraded Bombala Swimming Pool has opened to the public this week.

Locals have watched on in great interest over the past nine months as the $700,000 upgrade of the facility has unfolded, and there is great curiosity concerning the changes within.

The major renovations include the construction and fit out of a gymnasium and new amenities with access for people with disabilities.

A new entry point, kiosk, laundromat and associated infrastructure have also been built, including a sheltered children’s play area.

The Bombala Council was very pleased to welcome Member for Eden-Monaro, Mike Kelly to tour the upgrade just prior to the pool’s opening last Friday.

Dr Kelly was clearly impressed with the facility, and was very pleased to have been involved in helping secure $460,000 in federal funding towards the upgrade project.

He, like all who have visited the pool so far, had high praise for its improvements, and even lamented that it wasn’t open during his visit on the hot Friday afternoon.

Swimming lessons have already commenced at the pool, and the new and spacious change rooms have been christened by the area’s young people, all of whom highly approve the new amenities.

In fact, the facility has been transformed into a complex that easily matches swimming pools in larger centres, and all are urged to come and see for themselves this swimming season.

Details on opening times and entry fees for the Bombala Swimming Pool can be found Page 16.
