IN very pleasing news, a young lady which the Bombala community helped get to the Tamworth Country Music Festival this year had some great success while she was there!
Dakota Lee, the 13 year old granddaughter of Bombala’s Eva L’Estrange, has thanked the local community for buying raffle tickets to help fund her recent trip.
She performed so well during the festival she made her way into the finals of several competitions, and was thrilled to win one of the more prestigious ones.
Dakota got into the semi-finals of the Mount Franklin Talent Quest, but chose to compete in the Capital Country Music Association’s Finals instead, both being the same day.
It proved a great decision, with Dakota Lee being named the runner up in the Junior Female section out of 40 other performers from all over Australia. She now has the medal and trophy to prove it!
Best of all, Dakota Lee went on to compete in the Battle of the Young Stars, and won herself a guitar and prize money for taking first place in the Intermediate section.
This is a great achievement and Dakota Lee and her family were delighted with her success.
So impressed were those who saw her perform during the festival, that Dakota Lee’s mother was approached by the producer of Australian Idol about the possibility of her auditioning for the show.
She will also be returning to perform in this year’s Country Music Talent Quest in Bombala on February 24, so we’ll all get a chance to see Dakota Lee perform then!
