Two big birthdays celebrated

WHAT a weekend of celebrations! Lots of happy events unfolded across the district last week, but there were two very noteworthy birthdays that just couldn’t go unmentioned.

First, well known and loved local man, Lou Joseph celebrated his 90th birthday, and was surrounded by family and friends to mark the occasion.

The celebrations began with a cheerful lunch at the Delegate Hotel on the Friday, followed by a big bash at ‘Howitt Park’ in Bombala on the Saturday.

Here over 200 people gathered to wish Lou all the best, and reflect on his many years living and farming in the district, and particularly on his major role in the local race industry.

Along with several heart felt speeches and a birthday cake, Lou’s party was also blessed with an entertaining visit from television’s Mrs Brown and Winnie (aka Sue Morgan and June Beileiter).

And if a fabulous 90th birthday was not enough for everyone, the partying continued into the night at the RSL Club as our beloved Dr Colin Pate celebrated his 60th birthday with another big, happy crowd of well wishers.
