ALTHOUGH the threatening rain managed to hold off, there was still a very disappointing roll up to Saturday’s Junior Rugby League and Netball Registration Day.
While those who came along thoroughly enjoyed the Family Fun Day at the Exhibition Ground, a relatively low number of children signed up for our local sporting competitions.
The giant slide, the free barbecue and some casual games on the netball courts and out on the oval all proved a hit, but now there are concerns for the future of junior sport in Bombala, particularly in the case of football.
Those who missed the registration day can still sign up of course, and more families are urged to get on board and keep our junior sporting competitions alive and well in 2013.
Netballers can contact Sue Morgan on 6458 3267 or Rocky Badewitz on 6458 4429, with hopes that the Winter Competition can begin in early April.
Those junior football players who played last year now have the convenience of registering online at bombalajrl@leaguenet.com.au, while those who are signing up after a break or for the first time can contact Naomi Bruce on 6458 3205 or David Bruce on 0400 583 211.
The first game for our junior footballers will be enjoyed at the Bibbenluke Carnival on March 23 should there be adequate numbers for teams.
Meanwhile, any players interested in having a game on the day for the Under 14s and 16s is encouraged to get involved in the Carnival as well, and can get their names down on the above numbers.
All are hopeful that the low numbers signing up on Saturday were a result of the predicted weather, and anyone interested in getting involved in junior rugby league or netball are urged to sign up as soon as possible.
Our comps need you!
