THE Bombala Bike Show is saved!
In previous articles we reported that the organising committee of the well loved event was struggling for numbers, and its first attempt at an AGM for the year saw the group unable to make a quorum.
In very pleasing news it seems a number of interested people answered the call for help when they saw the event’s future was threatened, and over 20 people assembled for the rescheduled meeting!
This means the future of the Bombala Bike Show is now secure, with the following committee being formed –
President, Grantley Ingram; Vice president, Stephen Cotterill; Secretary, Rick Ingram; Treasurer, John Vincent; Public Officer, Philip Steele; Publicity Officer, Bradley Sutton; Bands Co-ordinator, Shane Jones.
This is very pleasing news for the many people who enjoy the event so much each year, and all are now encouraged to come along to a brain storming session next week to discuss some Bike Show ideas.
Everyone is urged to sit in on the session at the Bombala RSL Club from 6pm on Wednesday, March 27, with suggestions for the coming show as well as the pros and cons of previous shows all up for discussion.
An example of some of the ideas already bubbling up include focussing more on the trade show aspect of the event to attract more involvement from dealerships and other bike related businesses.
There is also talk of hosting local bike tours on Bike Show weekend, and perhaps incorporating themes such as arts and heritage into these tours to utilise some of the area’s attractions.
Of course it’s all up for discussion, and many more ideas are encouraged at the brain storming session next Wednesday evening, so make sure you add your thoughts to better the Bombala Bike Show.
