The Blue Heelers team was invited to play against the Gungahlin Bulls during the half time break of the first grade Canberra Raiders vs Penrith Panthers match on the day.
Fitted out in special uniforms for the occasion, the Under 8s showed very good form on the field, and while no scores were kept, they certainly held their own against the Canberra side.
And of course it was a very special thrill to form the guard of honour for the first grade players as the Raiders vs Panthers game commenced, with the little locals lapping up the high fives as the professionals ran through.
And watching on were a proud bunch of family and friends, with an enthusiastic group of 60 travelling from the Bombala district to cheer on the Under 8s on their big day.
This was thanks to the Canberra Raiders who generously offered the Bombala and District Junior Rugby League Football Club complimentary tickets and even six corporate boxes for the day.
The Club would like to offer its thanks to the Raiders, as well as former local Tim Gronow, who helped organise the experience for the Blue Heelers through the Raiders Group of Clubs.
