AUSTRALIA’S Biggest Morning Tea has already had a tremendous start in the district, with the local Contact Group kicking things off at the Bombala Community Centre last Wednesday.
Here a keen little crowd gathered together to share in the morning tea spread and raise money for the Cancer Council, adding a few fun touches to make their event special.
This included wearing their favourite aprons and bringing along their oldest tea cups, with some real beauties being brought in to inspire plenty of reminiscing.
The group also welcomed special guest, Carol Badewitz who spoke about another cancer charity cause, the well known ‘Bust or Square for Cancer Care’.
Here Carol explained that this year’s local event will involve decorating boxes along with the usual canvases and busts, and the group greatly admired the finished products she brought along to inspire them.
This certainly made for an interesting and successful first Biggest Morning Tea for the Contact Group, who were pleased with the money they raised for the Cancer Council and the social time they shared.
Next up on the list of charity morning teas was the Bombala Health Service, with both staff and residents happy to welcome another group of cuppa lovers to the hospital last Friday.
Here there was also a great display of aprons to enjoy, along with some scrumptious morning tea treats, and again a healthy sum was raised for the Cancer Council.
And it’s not over yet! We still have three Australia’s Biggest Morning teas coming up this week in the district, with all being held on the official day of the event, Thursday, May 24.
Yes tomorrow it’s cuppas all round, and the first Biggest Morning Tea will be held right in the main street, with freshly cooked doughnuts and steaming hot cuppas being served outside the Bombala Bakery from 9am.
This means if you’re on your way to work, school or perhaps picking up morning tea for everyone, you can do it quickly while still supporting the Cancer Council.
Then it will be time for what has become perhaps the largest Biggest Morning Tea in Bombala, with keen supporters once again heading to the Bombala RSL Club tomorrow between 10am and 12.30pm.
Here they can share in the scrumptious morning tea spread which will be served upstairs, with a wonderful array of home cooked sweet and savoury delights on offer for the price of a donation to the Cancer Council.
On the same day, May 24, the Delegate MPS will hold its Biggest Morning Tea between 10am and 12noon, presented by staff and residents in the Lounge/Dining Room.
There will be yet another apron display to enjoy, while there will also be the added fun of a Pamper Basket raffle at the Delegate Hospital for some extra interest.
We’re already off to a strong start when it comes to this year’s Biggest Morning Teas, so make sure you head for one of these venues tomorrow and add your donation to the cause!
