Locals tour the TASCO mill expansion

WITH heavy rain having cancelled the first site tours planned for March this year, a group of eager locals gathered at TASCO’s Sandy Lane mill site on Saturday, refusing to let the clouds chase them away.

Tasco invited a cross section of the community to undertake site tours on the Saturday morning, with three separate groups touring the construction area of the enormous mill upgrade.

Throughout the hour-long tours visitors took in the huge scale of the upgrade project, including everything from roadworks through to new state of

the art equipment and necessary buildings.

Tasco reported that the construction is on schedule, and some fascinating statistics came to light, including the fact that 48,000 square meters of pavement has been laid at the site - coverage of more than two city blocks.

Tour participants were amazed by the rapid progress of the project since major earthworks were completed recently, and most were left astonished by the figures involved in the $74 million expansion.

Amongst those who made the most of the tour were Councillors, local business people and representatives of a series of local community and sporting groups.

Further details and statistics can be found at www.tascoaustralia.com.au, while Tasco’s monthly project update can be found on Page 5 of this week’s issue.
