WE may have had plenty of heavy frosts and cold winds over the past few months, but rest assured spring is on its way, and this year it might even have come a little early!
Frosty mornings and cloudy days sometimes make it difficult to see the warm weather on the horizon this time of year, but we’ve had some surprisingly sunny days lately, and our local flora has responded accordingly.
Cheerful daffodils and jonquils were amongst the first to bravely unfurl in the cold, but there are now plenty of flowers to be seen out and about around the area.
Many of these are natives that are well accustomed to our winters, while more traditional spring blossom is also now on show, with more in bud ready to defy the weather.
Most locals would assume that there is still plenty of wind and cold to come our way, but there’s a definite hint that winter is diminishing!
