IN very exciting news for the district, the Bombala Medical Centre has welcomed a new GP to the team, with Dr Tin Myint having started seeing local patients at the practice last week.
Dr Myint will be full time at the local surgery and will be a resident GP alongside Dr Colin Pate, while Dr Amanda Howard, Dr Emma Cunningham and Dr Gilbert Wallace all remain offering their services part time.
Dr Myint comes to us from the Bega Hospital where he has practiced for the past eight years, and has chosen Bombala to focus on being a community GP.
He has moved to town with his wife, Yin, and they have three grown children, which Dr Myint says has allowed them the freedom to make their latest move.
While the couple are not quite used to the cold Bombala mornings just yet, they are enjoying settling into the community, and have found the area to be very friendly and welcoming.
Dr Colin Pate has of course been among the most enthusiastic in welcoming the new doctor and his wife.
“It’s been too long since we’ve had another doctor resident in Bombala, and we hope the surgery will be able to provide upgraded services as a result of Dr Myint’s arrival,” he said.
