LAST Tuesday the students of the Bibbenluke Public School dressed up as their favourite book character along with joining in a Virtual Excursion with children's author, Aleesah Darlison.
The Bibbenluke students joined four other schools from Tweed Heads to White Cliffs across the state for this Virtual Excursion with the writer, who has penned ‘Unicorn Riders’ amongst other books.
Aleesah talked about being a children's author and the process from idea to publication.
Aleesah is an animal lover and most of her books are about animals so she hosts her excursions at Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Appropriately, during the excursion she read some of her book ‘Fangs’.
Accompanying Aleesha was the Taronga Zoo educator who introduced the students to a python, a shingleback lizard and a baby crocodile - all showing their fangs.
While the Virtual Excursion was greatly enjoyed, the costumes were also a highlight, with "Thing 1" (Mrs Beard), Nicholas Ickles (Mrs Chaplin), Dr Who, Sleeping Beauty, Captain Jack Sparrow and Bindy Irwin all appearing.
Rory Olding was the prize winner of the day as Dr Who, and he was presented with a signed copy of Aleesah's book, ‘Fangs’.
