YOU couldn’t have had a nicer day to pop out for lunch last Friday, and that’s what plenty of people chose to do as they made their way to the Anglican Casserole Luncheon at the Golf Club on August 30.
With sunshine streaming through the windows, and lovely flower arrangements adding to the spring time feel, a cheerful afternoon was enjoyed amongst friends.
A particular highlight was of course the fashion parade that coloured the day, with a lovely array of garments from the Anglican Op Shop being put on show.
Local models Beverly Moulds, Lyn Shannon, Diana Hood, Jan Lee and Jayne Sellers displayed the outfits with great style, and there were many admiring comments and plenty of smiles throughout the “real fashion for real people” parade.
Of course the Anglican ladies also served up a delectable spread of home baked dishes, with all manner of casseroles, stews and vegetable bakes being happily gobbled down.
From lemon meringue through to pavlovas, the homemade desserts were given the same treatment, and the lovely meal was washed down with a cuppa and warm conversation.
Of course there was high praise for the food and the atmosphere on the day, with beautiful cross stitch works from Gloria Robinson being raffled and some lucky door prize being given away to add to the fun.
The Anglican ladies would like to offer their sincere thanks to all who contributed dishes or their help on the day, and of course those who came along to ensure the luncheon’s success.
