THE Snowy River Interstate Landcare Committee recently secured funding through the NSW Government’s Landcare Support Program to run two chainsaw courses tailored for women and those with limited experience in handling and operating chainsaws.
The practical training covered areas of operator safety, safety features of the chainsaw, maintenance and sharpening including how to set a Depth Gauge.
All participants enjoyed learning how to use their saw safely while using the correct trimming and cross cut techniques including ways to avoid kickback.
The accredited course was delivered by Roger Brown and Auswide Training.
Roger has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the timber industry, so by the end of the two days all participants were handling and using their chainsaws confidently while practicing different techniques in a variety of situations.
