THE Bombala district warmly welcomed some heavy rainfalls last week, with so much rain being received upstream that the Bombala River reached its official Minor Flood Level on Tuesday night.
Rainfall totals of up to 40mm in 24 hours were recorded in the upper Snowy River catchment, causing the Bombala River to peak at the Minor Flood Level of three metres at the main bridge overnight into Wednesday.
Of course more showers were received outside of this 24 hours, but the river dropped below the Minor Flood Level quickly during the first half of Wednesday.
The Snowy River at McKillops Bridge also exceeded the Minor Flood Level of 2.5 metres overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
With records varying across the district, the Bombala township itself has received around 56mms of rain since Friday, September 13 to the time of our deadlines on Monday, September 23.
While this of course indicates there has been plenty of cloud about, Bombala also managed to score some sunny days during this ten-day period, with a decent frost thrown in for good measure on Black Friday.
