After the smoke settled following a burn-out entertainment session, a lizard appeared in the centre of the first chicane on the Surfers Paradise track on Sunday morning.
Luckily, the on-track action had finished for the moment, so the confused reptile eventually strutted towards the tyre barrier. With no way of escaping, track officials were able to 'shoo away' the frightened lizard along the fence line to the track escape road.
The last sign of the lucky pedestrian was scurrying off to a rare vacant block of land.
