Drysdale, who began her career as a three-year-old dancing in pantomimes and went on to work with Ernie Sigley, Norman Gunston and Graham Kennedy, will be the guest speaker at Dalgety Women’s Day on May 7.
The talented performer has also appeared on television shows such as Young Talent Time, Countdown, Division Four, Homicide and Bellbird.
The year 2000 saw Drysdale celebrate 40 years in the television industry and after 52 years of working non-stop, she decided to take a break from her TV commitments.
She now speaks at functions such as the Dalgety event.
Dalgety Women’s Day is a joint initiative of the Snowy River Shire Council and the Friends of Dalgety Women’s Day Committee.
Since 1999, Dalgety Women’s Day has been a staple on the Snowy Mountains region event calendar.
Held annually, it is a much loved and anticipated occasion that celebrates women’s lives and stories.
From humble beginnings, the event has grown each year, filling the community hall at Dalgety to capacity.
Hundreds of women travel from across the Shire, the Monaro, and the South East to meet, talk, learn and laugh with other women of all ages.
Event coordinator, Lee Brulisauer from Snowy River Shire Council said this year’s theme was ‘Learning and Growing – Bridging the Gap’.
“The speakers and entertainers on the day will use this theme to ensure audience members walk away with a smile and having learnt something new,” Snowy River Shire Council event coordinator Lee Brulisauer said.
“When the Friends of Dalgety Women’s Day committee approached Denise Drysdale, through her management company Saxton, Denise contacted us personally and said she would love to attend the day.
“She will speak about her life in show business, and give the women on the day a good laugh,” she said.
Tickets are a $10 donation, and must be purchased prior to the event.
They will go on sale from April 1.
The committee are looking for volunteers to help with set up on the day prior, if you can spare the time, in return for a free ticket, please call Ms Brulisauer at Community Development, Snowy River Shire Council, on 6451 1504.
