“We know we have raised at least $12,000, we’re still finalising the amount, we’re still counting,” a delighted Ms Ryan told the Bombala Times on Monday.
Ms Ryan said more than 250 people turned up for the event at the Bombala RSL Club on Friday night.
“We had about 230 tickets printed and we ran out,” Ms Ryan said.
“There were people seated at tables while others were standing,” she said.
Skippy was present for the evening and made an emotional speech. Surrounded by family and friends, she was clearly overwhelmed by the event held in her honour. Ms Ryan said the highlights for her were display of generosity from the Bombala district and seeing everyone happy with the evening. Money was raised from ticket sales, raffles and an auction. She thanked business houses and individuals for their donations.
