LAST Saturday the Narooma Devils played Cooma at Bill Smyth Oval. It was an afternoon night game and by the time first grade went on, it was very cold - although this would have suited the Cooma boys.

Their win was not to be and the Narooma boys beat them to the tune of 18-10. It was a tough game seesawing back and forward with no score until 10 minutes in with great tackling by Taylor, great takes by Chopper and then Tony Tyrrell scored and Pat Willis kicked the goal.
Narooma were looking good, attacking their line, Chopper doing well, Tyler broke through the line and Todd Ayres also. Then a complete change and Cooma attacking 20 minutes in they scored and missed the goal Narooma 6 Cooma 4 at half time.
With half time over Tyler was tackling everything and making breaks but Cooma were first to score in the 53rd minute, Cooma 10 Narooma 6 - not good.
Great meters by Riley Hextell and 61 minutes in Pat Willis scored but couldn't convert the scores were locked at 10 all.
Everyone was playing well; Chopper was bringing the ball up with great speed. Narooma received a penalty in front of the posts, Pat kicked the goal and the score was Narooma 12 Cooma 10 with 6 minutes to go.
Todd Ayres muscled his way over the try line with 3 minutes to go with Pat converting the final score Narooma 18-10.
You couldn't fault any of our boys, they were all magnificent, a great team, coming good at the right time of year. Best and Fairest points went 3 points Tony Tyrrell as well as Players player.
Reserve Grade didn't do so well beaten by 44-12 we had a few injuries in the ranks. Hope these boys will be back playing soon. Best and Fairest 3 Scott Curry, 2 Daniel Alderton, Players player also Scott Curry.
Our Devilettes were a similar score as at Cooma 34-0, we should have done better being a home game, but the Cooma girls seemed tall and fast, but our girls never gave up, best for us was 3 points Jamie Anne Wright, 2 Danielle Campbell, 1 Riana Foster and Coaches award Kayla Tyrell.
This weekend we go to Moruya on Sunday with the 3 grades.
The Devils Presentation night is on at O'Brien’s Hotel on Friday, August 15, tickets are available at Rapley's Meats so be early to avoid disappointment.
