Constable Steven Gay said the Bombala men – who he declined to identify– had made “full confessions”.
Constable Gay said it would be alleged that one of the men sold the guitar to a Cooma man in a private deal.
“The bloke [who bought the guitar] thought it may have been the stolen guitar,” Constable Gay said.
“He’d read the article in the paper,” he said.
Constable Gay said the man went to Cooma Police Station where he handed in the guitar and made a statement.
It will be alleged that when the men were interviewed by Bombala Police they made full admissions.
Constable Gay said the guitar which had been on loan to the school would be returned to its owner.
“He’s pretty happy about that,” Constable Gay said.
It is believed that there are only two such guitars in Australia.
The men will appear in court on October 8.
