Sore – because the 56-year-old completed the grueling run from Sydney’s CBD to Bondi in a personal best of 1:33:12, eight minutes better than her previous best time.

“I’m getting faster as I get older,” Mrs Peadon said on Monday.

She is also amazed by the staggering $1635.87 she has raised for her chosen charity, Soldier On, which supports members of Australia’s Defence Force.

Soldier On is about Australians coming together to show their 

support for physically and psychologically wounded personnel. 

The charity, which is independent of government, aims to give those who have served Australia  the dignity they deserve and the chance to do and be whatever they choose.

“It’s amazing that I have been able to raise this amount of money in such a relatively small place as Bombala,” Mrs Peadon said.

Mrs Peadon – who is the daughter of a World War I veteran and has a family member currently serving in the Defence Force – said competing in the 2014 City2Surf was spectacular, with its mix of serious runners and colourful characters, including Hare Krishna members and gorillas among the 80,000-plus competitors.

She ran with her brother Don Beileiter, who beat her by five seconds.

“Consequently he remains the family champ for yet another year,” Mrs Peadon said.

“I will have to do more hill training for next year, Heartbreak Hill was a challenge.”
