First stop was Hair on Main where the women enjoyed treatments including a haircut, a neck and shoulder massage and a manicure.
Next they were welcomed to Heritage Guesthouse and Restaurant where they were treated to great food and each others’ company.
The day was co-ordinated by Bombala Council’s HACC manager Geraldine Dyer who said the women reported feeling very relaxed after their special day.
Ms Dyer said many people don’t realise the enormous responsibility and demands on time that come with being a carer.
“For some of the women, it was the first time they had ever had a massage or had their nails done,” Ms Dyer said. “They just don’t have the time.”
She said the support the women gave each other was also invaluable.
The day was made possible by grants from Carers NSW.
“It was a lovely day. When we found out we’d received the grant I asked the group what they would like to do, and this is what they came up with.”
