FAMILY and friends happily gathered at the St Matthias Anglican Church on Saturday for the christening of Evie Grace Filtness, the daughter of Emma and Damian Filtness, now of Bairnsdale.
Five month old Evie is the granddaughter of Doug and Jennie Platts of Mila, Cathy Filtness of Bombala and Henry Filtness of Bombala.
Continuing tradition, Evie is the fourth generation of the Platts family to be christened at St Matthias, and wore a very special gown for her big day.
The christening gown is believed to be over 90 years old and was worn by Evie’s great grandmother, Lloma Platts (nee Ryder) and her great great uncle, Frank Ryder.
In all, 14 members of the Platts and Ryder family have worn the gown.
Following the christening the gathering celebrated at the Anglican Hall, with the christening cake being the top tier of Emma and Damian’s wedding cake, made by great grandmother Lloma Platts.
