The large, cheerful gathering included many local families, as well as some visitors, all coming together at the railway to celebrate the season.
LED candles and glow in the dark items proved immensely popular with the children as evening descended, while the Lions Club barbecue and Cosmo Café stand were a hit with the hungry hoards.
The Lions Club also ran its ever popular ham raffles, with the chocolate wheel whirring away throughout the evening.
The actual Carols by Candlelight night opened with a performance from the St Joseph’s Primary School Choir, with many other local groups and individuals also hitting the stage to get the crowd singing along.
Perhaps most exciting of all, however, was the visit from Santa, who made his arrival in the police vehicle, and spent lots of time with the children having photos taken and sharing some Christmas fun.
It was a lovely evening, especially for our young people, who clearly had a ball not only enjoying the carols and Santa, but also running around the decorated railway with sparkling wands, glowing windmills and luminescent fans!
