ON Sunday, January 25 the family of the late Olga Morgan (nee Cox) celebrated what would have been their mother’s centenary year, along with a reunion of descendants of William and Jane Ingram.
Over 80 people gathered in the Bombala Golf Club for this celebration, with visitors coming from Queensland, the ACT, Victoria and NSW.
A wonderful display of memorabilia was brought along, including Mrs William John Cox’s wedding dress, which was 101 years old.
Olga’s own wedding dress, which was 79 years old, was also modelled during the event, as was a christening gown with needlework dating back to the early 1940s. A collection of jewellery was also displayed.
Visitors were able to view the four branches of the William Ingram family tree, and a Straughan family tree was brought along by Hazel Gibbons’ family, who are all Olga’s second cousins.
Rae ‘Patchy’ Mitchell grew up with the Morgan family, and there was a lovely display of his show and rodeo ribbons along with Mrs Lottie Watson’s riding crop, Mrs Pat Duncan’s riding attire, and Mr Harry Cox’s sheep dog trophies.
The centenary cake was cut by the Morgan family, and the reunion cake by Mr Gordon Platts.
Some great music was enjoyed, along with a lovely barbecue provided by the Bombala Golf Club.
On Monday morning family members travelled by bus to walk in the footsteps of their forbearers in Cambalong, South Bukalong and Palarang.
This trip finished off a wonderful weekend of reminiscing and celebration.
