The Bombala Chamber of Commerce’s Michelle Peisley led the call, outlining the many benefits that such a development would bring the community.
Mayor Bob Stewart was in attendance, as were Councillors Steve Goodyer and Brad Yelds, and Council General Manager, Ngaire McCrindle.
Mayor Stewart said that Council agreed there would be many benefits in enclosing the pool, but that it was unrealistic to expect a year-round swimming season in Bombala.
He proposed that the best way forward would be to form a committee to make plans and get cost estimates in time to approach the federal government for funding in the lead up to next year’s election.
Cr Stewart said if the community and council made the project its number one priority, it could be achieved.
