The local Men of League Foundation hosted the day, with around 50 people signing up to hit the greens for social bowls and a cheerful afternoon in the name of charity.
The event was well supported by the local district, while organisers were also pleased to welcome participants from Eden, Gundagai and Canberra.
Adding to the laughs was a visit from Reg Reagan (aka Sue Morgan) , who loudly wandered about the greens, stubby in hand, for what we hear was his very last appearance in Bombala.
Following the bowls the group adjourned inside to enjoy an excellent barbecue and a series of raffles, with the presentation of winners seeing both leading teams donate their prizes back to the Men of League.
Following such as successful day there are many thank yous to be made, with appreciation first going to the Men’s Bowling Club for their assistance and Reigh Callaway for preparing the greens in time.
Thanks also to the RSL Club itself; the Globe Hotel for its ongoing assistance; Paul Elliott of the Canberra Men of League for attending; Tim Gronow for the signed Raiders jumper that will soon be auctioned; invited guests Barry Manning,Bill McDonald and Fay Rutherford for attending; those who manned the barbecue; and all who supported the event in any way.
Congratulations must also go to the Men of League committee, and in particularly Tommy Herbert, for organising such a great day, that will ultimately assist people in need within the community.
The Craig “Reggie” Elton and Past Players Memorial Day was such a great success that it will now become an annual event in Bombala.
