A heavy fog cleared as anglers set out to enjoy a calm, clear day of fishing.
Rock anglers faced a large ground well which made it difficult to find a safe spot to drown a prawn.
Beach fishos were plagued by seaweed but there were a couple of lucky anglers.
Thomas Fitzgerald reeled in the biggest fish of the competition, a 2.47kg salmon and Daniel Dowley caught the biggest flathead at 452 grams.
Peter Dowley took out men’s blue water with a 582-gram leatherjacket, Keith Brooks won the men’s rock prize with a blackfish weighing 1.352kg and Adam Krodie won the men’s estuary with a 1.07kg salmon.
Jean Fielden won the ladies’ estuary prize with a bream weighing 474 grams and no juniors weighed in fish.
The club expects members to fish at Buckenderra for the freshwater section at the next competition.
“I hope the weather is good to them as I hear the fish are really on the bite,” publicity officer Thomas Fitzgerald said.
The club’s next competition is on March 28 and 29 and it welcomes new fishos.
Visit the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on a Friday night for information and the club raffle.
