Mr Luke who has provided weather predictions to both the Melbourne Storm and Western Bulldogs for their training schedules, is remarkably accurate, seeing patterns emerging before they become obvious.
He said that the Merimbula and Bega areas were “looking at minimum of 50mm starting on Monday afternoon, April 6 and going for about 48 hours”.
Mr Luke said that the worst time would be Tuesday, afternoon, April 7 when the winds will increase to between 70-80km/h.
This system is not the one that is currently tracking from WA which Mr Luke said will break down. He said that on Saturday, April 4 there would be a shower or two from a system coming down from Sydney. “By the time it gets to Bega/Merimbula it will start to go out to the Tasman Sea. However he said that on Monday another system would come down the east coast of Australia, calling it a “lone wolf” system similar to the one on Saturday.
This is the one that he expects will bring the heavy rain and winds and will become a very deep low pressure system on Tuesday.
We will bring you another update on this story on Monday morning.
