THE Bendoc SES Unit last week received new operational equipment as part of the ongoing annual sponsorship of VICSES by leading national insurer, AAMI.
Victoria SES and AAMI are celebrating 10 years of partnership this year. In that time, AAMI has contributed over $2.6 million to VICSES for the purchase of operational equipment which enables the 5000 volunteers to serve their local communities.
“Victoria SES performs life-saving work on a daily basis. They are first on the scene to help people when they are most in need,” said AAMI Executive Manager for Sponsorship, John Bennetts.
“AAMI and VICSES share a common focus on offering a helping hand to rebuild lives. This program demonstrates how we work together towards a safer community making the 10 year partnership we’re celebrating so successful.”
The East Region of SES consists of 26 units with 700 volunteers and covers a response area of 41,561 square kilometres. Volunteers responded to over 3,300 requests for assistance in the past year including 230 rescues and 530 flood incidents.
“It’s crucial the people who come to help have the equipment they need to do their jobs effectively. The gear AAMI purchases goes straight to those who need it the most,” said Mr Bennetts.
SES Regional Emergency Management Officer, Ken Boddinnar along with John Reed from Bendoc SES Unit thanked AAMI for its continued support.
“We are delighted with AAMI’s contribution. It allows SES units to keep pace with technological advances, supporting our volunteers at a local level where it will be of most benefit to them and the community,” said Ken Boddinnar
Under the program, which supports each of VICSES’s 141 operational and 10 support units, Bendoc SES Unit received two Generator Covers, one Packexe Smash Kit, six Window Punches, one Record Bolt Cutter, six MT7 Torches and one X21 Torch.
