WHEN strength and conditioning coach, James Tatham, completed his 17 day trek in Nepal, he never imagined that just three short days after returning home to Sydney disaster would strike, killing thousands of Nepalese and causing billions of dollars worth of damages to the communities he had learned to love. Now, he wants to help.

As Nepal attracts over 800,000 travelers every year, James has since created the concept of completing an Australian Trek in order to raise funds to help rebuild Nepal and its neighbours. "The goal is to raise $10 for every life lost in Nepal. The current total amount to reach this goal is $66,210, although as time passes this number is set to rise," James said.
"The funds raised on this campaign will go directly to Nepalese communities to help provide supplies, labour, food and water required to rebuild their nation.
“We aim to raise these funds by trekking one kilometre for each ten lives lost, which is around 600 kilometres at the moment and is planned for early November, 2015."
ln order to get things off the ground, James shared his idea with family and friends. His best friend of five years, Jack Thomson was more than eager to lend his time for the cause.
"When James told me his idea, l just knew I wanted to play whatever part I could in making it work," Jack said.
James and Jack, co-founders of #trekking4nepal, have been working around the clock to get the campaign started and all the logistics sorted. Although, most importantly to give others a platform to support a country in need.
"On the 600 kilometer trek, we will make ourselves suffer, but nowhere near as much as the communities in Nepal have suffered," James added.
"ln 24 hours since launching trekking4nepal, we have received 450 Facebook likes, and raised over 1.5% of our goal, which is over $1,300. Seeing things come together, makes the idea of walking for over a month more bearable, while supporting a country in need at the same time," Jack stated.
