The reserve grade team lost to Moruya for the first time since the shield’s conception thirty-plus years ago.
The Tigers now have a full round of games to wait for some redemption at Moruya in the last game of the regular season.
The ladies’ league tag team waved the flag for the Tigers with a brilliant display headed up by Sheree Coubrough who scored four tries in a sparkling show of talent.
“The girls have improved remarkably under the guidance of Sheree Potts and if they can stick together are sure to be accepted in the competition proper next season,” Tigers spokesman John Ladmore said.
The Tigers are at home again next weekend and host the Cooma Stallions.
It’s the first time the Stallions will play at Mackay Park and the home side will look to turn its round one fortune around; first grade lost 32-12 and reserve grade lost 36-18.
In other first grade Group 16 results, Merimbula-Pambula beat Bombala 60-14, Bega edged Cooma 22-20 and Eden trounced Narooma 52-nil.
