With the Bombala and District Rugby League Club playing host to Moruya, our High Heelers ladies league tag team presented a purple-themed High Tea for the afternoon.
The High Heelers had chosen Saturday as their Women of League round, which not only celebrates involvement of women in all aspects of the game, but also allowed them to raise funds for a cause of their choice.
In this case the ladies went with the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life, which will be run locally in November, and in which both the High Heelers and the Blue Heelers will have teams.
The High Heelers had baked a luscious spread of purple goodies for High Tea, festooning the kiosk and bar area in purple for the occasion.
On the field the ladies wore purple Women in League socks, and were led out of the changerooms by local junior league girls, decked out in mini Heelers uniforms complete with the purple legwear.
After the game there were more purple outfits to throw on, while raffle tickets were sold and donations taken.
This all added up to around $500 being raised to kick off the High Heelers’ Relay for Life effort, with thanks going to all of those who supported the Women in League round.
