The district awoke to sparkling white frosts on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday mornings, with picturesque scenes being enjoyed as we shivered our way through the early hours.
And we’re not talking a light shimmer of frost, we’re talking about big, fluffy crystals that hung around for hours, with Tuesday’s temperatures dropping particularly low, coming in at a freezing -6.8°c. At some locations we hear reports of -7.5°c, and the Bureau of Meteorology informs us that the apparent “feels like” temperature on Tuesday morning was an incredible -10.7c! Sunday was not far behind.
Of course not everyone was enamoured with the beautiful icy spectacle, but it was hard to complain about the days which followed, with lovely sunshine being enjoyed - once we’d all thawed out!
